Generate Charts

There are several types of charts that can be generated:

  1. Residential Waste Flow
  2. Flow of all Wastes (residential, municipally managed waste, industrial, commercial and institutional waste, and all municipal solid waste)
  3. Residential Waste Management System Costs

1. Residential Waste Flow

CSR will generate a GAP Residential Flow Chart with data you submit. A draft GAP Residential Waste Flow Chart will be sent to you for verification.  When finalized, with your approval, we will add your GAP Residential Flow Chart to those already on the website.  You can provide us with your data by downloading either:

You can also request any of these documents by contacting the CSR GAP Infoline at 647-777-3356 or by emailing gapinfo@csr.org.

The Short GAP Guide provides brief instructions on how to fill in each cell of the GAP Spreadsheet and Form.  More detail is provided in the November 2003 GAP Manual. Appendices to the manual include: A - GAP Team Members (updated Feb 2004); B - Original GAP Terms of Reference; C - Density and Volume Conversion Tables; D - Draft Beneficial Use Paper (updated Dec 2003).

Electronic Submission

If you use the GAP Excel Spreadsheet or the Short of Full GAP Questionnaires, save the files to your own computer (use "save as") and then email the completed spreadsheet or Word File as an attachment to gapinfo@csr.org.

Fax Submission

You can print a hard copy of any GAP submission files, fill them in and fax the completed form or spreadsheet to CSR at 416-594-3463.

2. Flow of all Waste

For municipalities who want to measure the generation and flow of all wastes (residential, municipally managed waste, industrial, commercial and institutional waste, and all municipal solid waste) within their boundaries, the GAP Team has developed a municipal waste measurement tool, using many of the principles initially developed and applied in the original GAP residential waste flow work.

The GAP MSW Manual provides instructions on how to fill in the GAP MSW Waste Flow Spreadsheet, which is then used to create the GAP MSW Flow Charts.  'Worked' examples of these charts (in PDF format) are available by clicking on the following charts:

  • Chart 1 - Residential Waste Flow
  • Chart 2 - Non-Residential Municipally Managed Waste
  • Chart 3 - Privately Managed IC&I Waste Flow
  • Chart 4 - MSW Waste Flow

If you are interested in developing a GAP MSW Flow Chart for your municipality, contact the GAP infoline at 647-777-3356, or e-mail gapinfo@csr.org

3. Residential Waste Management System Costs

A separate GAP Cost Protocol Team  tackled the challenging issue of developing a protocol for identifying residential waste management system costs.  The GAP Cost  Manual describes how to identify residential waste management system costs for your municipality.  Two spreadsheets in the GAP Workbook can be filled in and sent to CSR to generate a GAP Cost Flow Chart for your municipality. A sample GAP Residential Cost Chart illustrates how costs for your municipal waste management system can be presented in a one page format similar to the GAP Residential Waste Flow chart.
